Frequently Asked Questions

What is mobile physical therapy?

Tolt Travel Therapy and its staff will provide physical therapy services in the comfort of your home, work, gym, pool or park.  You do not need to come to a clinic, instead, we come to you. Watch this short video to further understand what to expect at your first mobile physical therapy appointment!

Our service area includes Monroe, Duvall, Carnation, Snoqualmie, North Bend, and parts of Redmond and Snohomish. Please call to confirm that you are within our service area.

If you are located outside of the provider area, we can suggest alternative locations.

How many sessions will I need?  When will I be “cured”?

There is no one-size-fits-all protocol for physiotherapy; it is both a science and an art. The number of treatment sessions you’ll need depends on your injury/condition, overall health, and compliance with your plan of care. Physical therapy is not a “quick fix;” it often requires a lifestyle change. Tolt Travel Therapy will provide you with tools you can use for a lifetime! At the initial evaluation appointment, your physical therapist will educate you on your prognosis and work with you to create a plan of care. Even once your injury is “resolved”, you can continue to benefit from skilled physical therapy to meet new goals, stay fit, and make life, work and play easier and more enjoyable!

Do I need a doctor's prescription to see a physical therapist?

In the state of Washington, you can see a physical therapist for an examination, evaluation, and treatment without a prescription from a physician.

Physical therapists have doctorate of physical therapy degrees and have been trained to recognize “red flags” that signal the need for more extensive medical intervention. In those cases, your physiotherapist will refer you to your physician or healthcare provider immediately.

What should I wear for my physical therapy session?

You should wear clothes that are comfortable and loose fitting to allow you to move without restrictions. If you are having problems with your legs (pain in the hip, knee or feet), please wear shorts. Your physiotherapists may also want to see the shoes that you frequently wear for daily activities (even your dress shoes!) or for running and walking.

What else might I need for my appointment?

Please have a clean sheet and hand towel available for your treatment session. Your therapist will provide all other equipment!

How is Tolt Travel Therapy combating COVID-19?

Tolt Travel Therapy is complying with all Washington state COVID-19 mandates and masking is currently optional. We are happy to accommodate your masking preference. We also require anyone who has been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or if you have any respiratory or cold symptoms to reschedule or be masked at all times during the physical therapy session. Tolt Travel Therapy completes thorough cleaning of all equipment between clients and by coming to your home, we also prevent unnecessary contact with other clients or staff in a clinic setting.

Feel free to contact us if you have additional concerns about your home therapy and COVID-19.
